Red and White Kicks off with The Peanut Hunt!

Red and White has officially started! The tradition continues as the first event on Wednesday night was the Peanut Hunt! As the campers were waiting in the rec hall (not peeking out of the windows) the counselors spread 25 pounds of peanuts across the Marimeta campus. When the whistle blew the campers scattered thru the camp looking for peanuts. When they find a peanut, they may look at it and make the team sound. One team had to say “ruff ruff” like a dog, the other “meow, meow” like a cat. The captains are all carrying bags and when the see a camper making the animal sound over a peanut, they can pick up the peanut and put it in the bag. The rules state that no camper may point at a peanut, they may only look at it and make the sound. Only captains may pick them up. As the captains get tired, they may pass off the bag, but only the campers with the bags can pick up peanuts. No other screaming or talking is permitted. Only the animal sounds. Afterwards the campers all go to the middle of the field and cheer for their team as the counselors count the peanuts. The final score was 2042-1817 in favor of the Whites!
