Trip Week Rocks!!!!

It’s Trip Week... our Pioneers are away on road trips. The 8th graders are at the Wisconsin Dells, seeing the famous Tommy Bartlett Water Ski Show, swimming and surfing at Noah’s Ark, the nations largest water theme park. The 9th graders are playing in the fun town of Mackinaw City and taking a ferry over to Mackinac Island. An Island famous for it’s fudge. There are no automobiles allowed on the island. The campers will be touring in horse drawn carriages, riding horses and bicycles around the 8 mile perimeter of the island. They will also pay a visit to the famous Grand Hotel. Our Senior Cabin is busy sailing around the Apostle Islands in Lake Superior. We have chartered two 34 foot yachts with experienced captains. The girls learn to sail the large boats and take part in every aspect of being on the crew! The trip lengths are 3 days and two nights.

"Swimming, Riding, Tennis, Archery"...

While the Pioneers are away...the Dudes and Ranchers will play. Every year when the trips go out our 12 year olds become the “oldest campers”. They love this! In addition to their own excitement, the entire activity schedule is altered for the three days. We call this “Al Lewis” activities... taken from a previous program director of Sandy’s camp experience as a child. At the beginning of each morning of trip week, the campers are called into the Rec Hall and they are sent out to activities that they “want to try or do” whether it’s in their regular schedule or not. They do this for each morning hour. It’s such fun because they can go tubing for two hours in a row! They can sail the whole morning, they can do a special crafts project, take part in a “camp wide” tennis tournament, shoot a round of archery or have a cabin challenge kick ball game. The evenings are filled with special events as well as the younger cabins are “cashing in” their incentive prizes such as go-karting, seeing a movie in town or going off to dairy queen for blizzards! Every one loves trip week at Marimeta!

Laugh and the whole camp laughs with you!
