Rainy days only make us play harder!

It’s pouring again!!! and what does that mean? It’s Party Time for Marimeta girls. There is so much we can do in the rain! Earlier this week we had rain with no thunder and our girls carried on with activities! Swimming, boating canoeing, soccer, basketball it didn’t matter. Friday night was a different story. Or should we say, Saturday morning at 4a.m. was a different story. The thunder was so loud it woke up the whole camp. The lightening was so brite it lit up the whole camp. Campers were climbing in and out of each others beds, the Cohen boyz were all in their parents bed and everyone was up very early. The rain continued to pound the Marimeta campus throughout the morning and we decided to “sleep in”. Horseback riding was cancelled and everyone fell back asleep with the pitter patter of raindrops on our cabin roofs. Breakfast was served at 10a.m. Fresh Baked Blueberry Muffin’s and a steamy cup of hot cocoa for everyone. Everyone slept late and we had cabin cleanup (with no inspection). This was followed by MTV practice. After a late lunch, Sandy and Terry had a surprise for the staff!
They told the staff that they could take a nap for a couple of hours and leave all of the campers with Sandy and Terry. The staff was elated! They took naps, showers, runs and everything else they love to do when relaxing!
Sandy and Terry called all the campers into the Mess Hall... with the Mari’s on one side and the Meta’s on the other. Each team cheering loudly!! The main table in the middle of the Mess Hall was littered with Wrapped Presents, with a big Bingo wheel in the middle . Each camper took a bingo card and Sandy and Terry conducted a Mega-Bingo Afternoon. As each game was won, the campers took a wrapped prize of which they were told “NOT TO OPEN”. After two hours Sandy and Terry asked if the kids wanted to stop....and they said NO!!!!! LET’S KEEP PLAYING!!! It was unanimous! We played till all the prizes were won, they opened them up... and some were cute candies, some were shower gels, others were gag gifts... like a big Jar of Pickles! The event was won by the Mari’s... but equal fun was had by all. Actually, the jury is still out as to who had the most fun. Sandy and Terry loved it sooo much. 148 campers...and Sandy and Terry! A Marimeta dream come true!

They Look Like frogs?

The rain finally stopped as the afternoon drew to a close. After dinner, we were back in cabin groups... a fun game called General Headquarters... where crazy events are the norm. Dressing up counselors as frogs, wrapping your counselor from head to toe in toilet paper, shaving cream and balloons help to make an even bigger mess! Creating a prom dress from things found in your cabin, writing a story to Manny and Pan, and other nutty timed events ... Having fun is what it’s all about and after the activity, each cabin will go back to write their cabin song... the cabin sing is on Monday night. Tomorrow is Lazy Day...and after such a busy rainy day... WE NEED IT!

Dressing up is kinda fun!
