Marimeta League 99 is off to a Rollicking and spirited start. This years captains were announced at our highly successful Western Casino Night. YeeeHaaa!!. The evening picked up as the sheriff and his deputies arrested several of the gamblers and put them before the honorable Judge Roy Bean. The Judge handed down his sentences...and to everyone’s delight Rebecca S. was sentenced to be the Overall Captain of the 1999 Meta team and Lauren L. was sentenced to be the Overall Captain of the 1999 Mari Team. Cheers rang out as Kirby B. was sentenced to be the Co-Captain of the Mari’s and Danna R. was sentenced to be Co-Captain of the Meta’s.
In the Dudes age division Captains of the Mari’s are Allie B., Alyse A. and Shantrice M.. Meta Dude Captains are Laurie D., Sabrina W. and Jordyn S.. In the Rancher age division the Mari Captain is Amanda S. and the Meta Rancher Captain is Genna K..
In keeping with Tradition, the first Mari-Meta League event was a spirited round of Capture The Flag! This is one the all time favorite events every year. Ask any Marimeta camper and she would tell you that you can never play “too much” Capture the flag! As luck would have it, the first event ended in a 2-2 tie. With a weather forecast of “cooler days ahead” the second week of camp is sure to see the start of MTV!!! Which stands for Marimeta Television. Each team has 7 groups of campers from each age division. They each pick a song or medley of songs and put together a music video. Video’s are judged on Lip Sync, Costume, Dance, Creativity and Best Overall Performance. In the spirit of Marimeta, all campers are then involved in the making and planning of their own video’s. Counselors are assigned to groups to assist them in choreography, costumes and to see that everyone has equal participation. This event is culminated with a dinner and awards show. It’s easy to see why campers look forward to this event year after year.
