Marimeta 1997...It's All About Having Fun!!!

Camp Marimeta 1997 has officially started. This is the first edition of our Online Newsletter. Our goal is to try to post pictures and keep you up to date on what is happening on the beautiful grounds of Marimeta.

The weather has been a bit of everything. We have managed to get lots of Skiing, Sailing, Swimming, Windsurfing, Kayaking and Canoeing in.... in between the rain drops... We have had lots of time to be applying sunscreen... so the Sun has not let us down at all! The past few days have been so hot.. that all campers have enjoyed the cooling effects of Meta Lake.

The New Tennis/Basketball Complex is GORGEOUS!!! Everyone has enjoyed playing Tennis on the 5 Courts which are also equipped for night time play! The New Basketball Court has also been very active by our pioneers in the evening time!

Mari-Meta League Teams are Chosen!

As tradition has it, Marimeta’s first session version of Color War has begun.... Mari-Meta League is off to a great start... beginning with a wonderful Mardi Gras Party.. where everyone arrived in their “Best New Orleans” outfits... it was a Carnival atmosphere.. and games were played throughout the evening.. followed by a “Crayfish” contest, in which each cabin dressed up a counselor to be a “Crayfish”. The winners were announced in the younger age division the Winner was Cabin 2’s “Fiona McCrayfish” and the Older Age division winner was Cabin 9’s “Sweet Pea”. The camp was surprised with the announcing of their Team Captains for 1997. After the screaming subsided..all of the teams were announced. The Mari Team’s overall Captain is Jamie Silverman. Her Co-captain is Barissa Meckler. The Mari captains are Marnie Gaule, Melissa Shefler, Elizabeth Demar, Erin Edson and Rachel Wolf. The Meta’s overall Captain is Jenni Hainsfurther. Her Co-Captain is Jamie Brenner. The Meta Captains are Amy Feldman, Erin Kannett, Lauren Furmanek, Lauren Friedlen and Meredith Salk. All of these girls are excited to lead their teams into many fine events.

However, more than anything else in the world, I love people and that is why I am at camp. Have a great summer!!
